Ravi Zacharias has written a masterful apologetic for the Christian faith. It is a must read for any and all serious disciples of Christ. His style avoids the pitfalls of unfamiliar terms, dry, brain numbing language and circular, nefarious (il)logic. As a Sunday high school and young adult Bible teacher, I strongly recommend, "Can Man Live without God?", as a summer reading project for any believing collegiate bound student, young adult group study course or anyone desirous to grasp why the teaching of Jesus Christ is unique -"the way, the truth and the life"- now and for eternity, amongst the world's cacophony of beliefs (including antitheists). This is the best of the best in an arena full of dense, dull, and dry tomes.

I am about 1/2 way through and love it. It is a great resource for people who want to be able to give intellectual arguments for faith. Excellent tool for evangelism.

R. Z. certainly does not need my recommendation as he has been endorsed by giants such as Billy Graham, Charles Swindoll, and Josh McDowell. Reading this has been an exciting - even exquisite - experience for me. (Reader beware, - have your regular dictionary and your philosophy dictionary on hand.) I shall not put it away w the other books that I have read - but shall keep it near for reference. I love, love, love this book!

I carefully read the book cover to cover twice. The author brilliantly reveals the intellectual superiority of the Christian faith and renders all other belief systems inadequate and hopeless. It is the most compelling work I've ever read about the fundamental differences among the major philosophies in the world. This book will encourage Christians and trouble non-Christians.

I wish I had read this book many years ago. Mr. Zacharias knowledge of the subject and research is quite evident and assuring for there is no other way known to man, but God.Does the book require deep concentration? Yes and at times some plodding, but, it is worth the journey.

This book is conclusive set of talks delivered at Harvard University by Ravi Zacharias. Some of the ideas presented at Harvard were extrapolated and expanded upon in this book. The book itself is a tremendously helpful resource for any student or scholar looking for a defense on the Christian faith in contrast to other systems of thought. The breath of the range of philosophers range from Fredrick Nietzsche to C.S. Lewis as the polarizing extremes are dissected in vivid detail. The first half of the book deals with the secular worldview as well as its logical implications. The later half of the book deals with the Christian worldview. Here is the part of the book that shines through as Ravi eloquently provides the contradistinction of ideas in Christianity and secularism. This is the area where Ravi gives the reader the answers to origin, destiny, purpose, and morality found within the Christian faith.

This is my favorite books of Ravi's so far. I have a few more books to go over, but this one is unique in that it is based on real world conversations with college aged students as well as secular scholars. It is not just a dry academic discussion or a cheerleading feel good book. It actually hits some serious issues that we Christians need to face and own up in ourselves to get a deeper relationship to God. I love this book and recommend it to everyone I know. There are some great analogies as well as straight talk to help direct everyone to the relationship with Jesus that we have to have before we can accurately reflect Him in this world. Two thumbs up! This book is a great addition to any library. You will want to read this several times to make notes on the subjects and the eloquent way he addresses them. As usual Ravi is renowned for getting at the heart of any issue and not chasing carrots that distract from the topic at hand.

The book is okay, but definitely not for one well versed in philosophy. The author's own background and dealings seem to stem from a very popular approach to philosophy and religion. His section on Hinduism seems to ultimately betray his lack of understanding in general. This book is not recommended for the serious student or scholar who seeks to sharphen his or her understanding and approach to philosophy or religion.
