The commentary has great ideas and suggestions to help you understand the Scriptures. As an elder of our chuch and a teacher of an Adult Sunday school class, I have found the Holman series to be a great tool for studying and teaching. The deeper discussion sections are really great and forces you and your students to think a little deeper, a little outside of the box. The price is fair. The price for the whole set, OT and NT is a great deal if you can do it all at once. I believe the Holman series is a great assest to any study library, and look forward to adding more to mine. I have bought the commentary on the Book of Ruth, and it was really a great series to use.

As a lay teacher in Community Bible Study, I am finding this reference excellent. The illustrations and applications are often humorous and help to explain and make relevant the passages studied. There is not an overload of theology or detail, but enough to explain the original context and provide alternative explanations for passages that might be ambiguous.I highly recommend this.
