I was going to say that this book is so good that you're going to want to die, but that just doesn't sound right! I've seen this family interviewed a few times and I find them very credible. I loved hearing about the conversations little Colton had with Jesus and things about heaven.
If I had any criticism, it's that I wish the book added somewhere about salvation, so readers who may not know the gospel or know why anyone would go to heaven as opposed to hell, could gain understanding about salvation through faith in Jesus.

I read this book looking for flaws in relation to scripture, and I'm happy to say I didn't find any. Heaven is For Real will encourage those who have lost loved ones, those who fear death, and it is also a great witnessing tool. I plan to buy more to give away.

First off, I would like to shed light on all of the "inappropriate" ratings many reviews are getting. Obviously, God's enemies are hard at work, trying to defame & create havoc on this marvelous site. Please pray that they see the light. Now the book: My wife & I listened to Heaven is for real on CD, & loved every minute of it. My faith was strengthened immeasurably. You know, as Christians, we talk of heaven & want to believe it's waiting for us, but the Bible is so vague about it. Jesus uses young Colton Burpo to paint an amazing picture of what awaits those who love Him. Just to know we will recognize those who have gone on before us & be reunited with them brings such peace.

Heaven is For Real
Using booksneeze.com, I received this book from Thomas Nelson book review bloggers program. http://brb.thomasnelson.com/

Written by Todd Burpo with Lynn Vincent

I needed another book for my next review. There was only one available, this one. But I hesitated and didn’t order it but waited a few days and checked again, but still only one. So, “I may as well take it”. When it arrived a week later, it sat on the counter. It did catch my eye a few times and when I finally picked it up there was nothing going to get me to put it down. Yes, I’d read a short preview But I was not really gripped as thought “how many books can there be about the NDE and this one happened to a 4 year old boy”? I was totally unprepared for the intense emotion included in the story,
This book is written:
• In the first person of Colton’s father, Todd Burpo
• Both he and his wife were very careful to be factful in how they gained their understanding of their son’s time spent in heaven.
• As attentive parents, they both learn an immense amount of information from their child Colton
• Todd along with his wife, listened intently to the first hint as to what Colton had experienced, “I heard the angels singing” …
• Little by little the details came out and just when mom & dad thought they had the whole story, Colton would let another piece of information out!
• Colton’s dad Todd as a pastor and mom as a Sunday school leader were both extremely cognizant of the fact that they wanted the information to be Colton’s story and never planned to write a book about the family’s experience. They also were intent on not “pushing” Colton to tell the story as wanted to ensure he voluntarily told the story and definitely did not ‘put words in their son’s mouth’
This book could be improved by:
Better promotion in order to capture the attention of prospective readers.
I gave this book a 5 star rating because it did simply because it capture my undivided attention and also told a very amazing story.

This book touched my soul and my heart. So innocent that only Jesus could have been there for this little boy to come through the things he did. I know Heaven is real, I know Jesus is real and I know that God is real for He shows me each and every day of my life and has for every day of my life. Thank you for putting Christian material out there for all to afford and to enjoy. God bless all of you.

Well composed and written, at a level appropriate to pretty much any adolescent or later reader. Uplifting and encouraging to the believer; thought-provoking to any thinking doubter, seeker, or non-believer.

I was recommended this book several times from different people. I got it out of curiosity, and began reading it with a skeptical eye. I was fascinated by the humble way it was presented, and felt that Jesus was completely glorified. Whether it is accurate or not, it is certainly sincere. I am certain that heaven is more than we can even imagine, which is probably why the Bible is somewhat vague about it.

Our Biblical mandate is "Suffer the little ones to come to me" It is just so that Jesus shows HIS great love for all little ones so who could more fittingly assure all adults than just such a one. This story gains credulity from the complete lack of sophistication of it's hero. The sweet truth is over arcing and tangible...a confirmation of heaven!

My wife and I had a hard time putting this book down as it reminded us of the joys that await each one of us as saved individuals! We finished reading the book together in only 3-4 days. :) If you want to be encouraged about what is coming for the Christian in heaven, you should definitely read this book!

A compelling and awesome story that really gets you thinking about heaven. I started Colton's story and couldn't put it down till I finished the book. I was awestruck at all that Colton told about his time in heaven. It left me wanting to know more of what heaven is like. My excitement of going to heaven has intensified since reading Colton's story. I can't wait till I can see it for myself.
Thank you Colton for giving me a glimpse of what heaven is like.
