Where I Want To Live
Date:March 21, 2013
The Great House of God by Max Lucado is a book that uses the metaphor of a house to walk through the Lord's prayer line by line. The breaking down of such a familiar passage of scripture is a great way to catch the details that are often missed due to our frequent reading and speaking of the passage. Max uses his comfortable and familiar style to guide his readers room by room through the details and promises that are contained within this powerful prayer.
I really enjoy the writings of Max Lucado, but with this book, I wish he would have gone into some more depth on the different sections of the prayer. It often felt like he was just skimming the top of what he could be talking about. What he had to say was very good, but I was left hoping for more. A nice bonus with this book is the study guide at the back of the book that would make this very helpful for a small group or book study that would easily facilitate a deeper study of the materials.
I am a member of booksneeze.com by Thomas Nelson Publishers. In exchange for writing a review, I received this book for free.
When I realized that this book takes The Lord's Prayer and uses it as a floor plan of the House of God, I remembered hearing a similar sermon many years ago. Since the publishing date is 1997, perhaps my pastor used Lucado's book as a guide for that sermon. Good idea, I say!
Max Lucado takes an in-depth look into the most famous prayer. He breaks down The Lord's Prayer by words and phrases. He entertains with scripture and personal anecdotes which reminds the reader of the greatness of God.
Included is a chapter-by-chapter study guide with three sections for each chapter: Let Us Ponder, Let Us Prepare, and Let Us Pray. This book can be used as a personal devotional or for a group study material.
Thank you to Booksneeze for my copy.

Review 3 for The Great House of God
I was very impressed and blessed
Date:October 8, 2012
I am a Max Lucado fan to begin with so my expectations were high from the start. I was not disappointed. Max took a source that anyone can relate to, and helps you understand a very important passage of scripture. I was very impressed and blessed and taught some valuable lessons of the word of God. I have already passed my copy around to my loved ones.
