I read Heaven is for Real about six months before my father died, which gave it extra meaning for me later on. What I took away from this sequel was the reminder of the peace that can fill our everyday lives when we live them in anticipation of the joyful reunion that is to come.

I have read Heaven is for Real and Heaven is for Real for Kids. Now I have completed the third book by Todd and Sonja Burpo called Heaven Changes Everything: Living Everyday with Eternity in Mind.
In their third book, the Burpo's apply what they have learned from their son Colton's experience in heaven. Each chapter takes a look at part of Colton's original story and then shows how the family has changed because of it. Hence the name of the book! The chapters begin with a quote from Heaven is for Real and then a narration of the effect of Colton's visit to heaven. At the end of each chapter, the reader is presented with a question or statement to consider and then scripture that goes along with the chapter's purpose.
This book was a quick and easy read. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the original story. I did appreciate the honesty of the authors and the revelation of how their son's trip to heaven changed them and how it can change us too.

If you enjoyed the amazing book "Heaven is for Real", then you are going to love its wonderful companion, "Heaven Changes Everything". The book is written in short inspirational chapters, which is great to either consume one day at a time, or to read all at once. I myself have enjoyed using the book as a devotional, taking my time to savor an entry, the accompanying verse, and the challenge arising out of that chapter. I love the childlike faith that permeates this book as little snippets are shared, primarily about Colton's visit to heaven and the wisdom that he gave arising from that experience. It may not be necessary for someone to have first read "Heaven is for Real" in order for them to enjoy this devotional reader, but it will be a much more rich reading experience if they have the full background of Colton's story and what he encountered. This devotional reader is greatly encouraging, and turns our attention to the hope that lies in heaven, the hope that there is so much more to come, and that heaven will be a place where truth is revealed, we reunite with loved ones, and where there will be no more death or tears or crying. Out of all the chapters, I was most challenged by the one entitled "A Battle to Come", a chapter that reminds us that Jesus ultimately wins the overall war, but we remain in a daily battle to stand up for our faith and fight the good fight to spread the love of Jesus.
Heaven Changes Everything would make a perfect gift for a loved one in your life, and you may just want to pick up a copy for yourself as well! People who are struggling with some difficult circumstances will find a lot of hope in the readings that remind us that our experiences now are temporary, and the hope of heaven is real indeed. 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Since I read the book Heaven is for Real by Colton Burpo, I have seen many books with the same title throughout bookstores. The original book tells the story of Colton dying and going to heaven before he is resuscitated. As time goes on, his family beings to hear things from him that he couldn’t possibly know, things like the looks of his grandfather he never knew, a sibling in heaven his parents never told him about, and what his parents were doing while he was in the hospital room. This book is written by Cloton’s parents, Todd and Sonjo Burpo, in the format of a short devotional. The book is broken into 42 chapters, and each contain an excerpt from the original book followed by a devotional concept by Todd or Sonja Burpo. The chapters include Is Your Light On?, Asking for and Giving Help, No Secrets, Forgiveness Is for Real, and many others.
I liked the format of this book, and I liked the fact that the chapters were short enough to be read pretty quickly, since I am normally running late in the morning and find if devotionals are too long I’m not as likely to spend time really thinking about them but I rather skim over them and don’t really think about what I’m reading.

Heaven Changes Everything Living Everyday with Eternity in Mind by Todd and Sonja Burpo is a book to be read after the Heaven is for Real book by the same authors. This book which is said to be a devotional reader tells of some of the changes since the 1st book in their family and how the book was received. The children have grown into teens but are not dating yet. The format is a little different in that it also is written by Sonja and therefore gives some Mom details. This story brings in the rest of the children and how they dealt with it which is nice.
I liked this book but not as well as the first. One would have had to read the first book to enjoy this one. It is called a devotional reader but it is mostly a catch up on the family workings and can be read in one setting as a story. It is a quick read containing only 221 pages. Any ages can read this book though the couple has also written a children’s version of Heaven is for Real.
I received this book from Booksneeze for this review.
