Thomas Nelson Black Graphic Novel: The Birth of Evil

It begins. Black, the first book in the Circle Trilogy, sets up two worlds inhabited by a certain Mr. Thomas Hunter...one world very much like the world we know and the unfamiliar and primal, almost pristine world he gains access to while sleeping or unconscious. Thrown into the dramas of two distinct, yet connected, realms makes Thomas the only person who can resolve both conflicts. But this volume only sets the scene. The groundwork for the series is laid as Dekker's grand vision of a Divine Romance is given life and we are privy to a vision of the beauty of true love as God intended. Prepare to be blown away at the concepts, characters, and story as this master storyteller begins to weave his masterpiece.

My 13 yr old son LOVED this book and immediately asked for the others in the series. I am a big Decker fan, and now it looks like my son is also.

To clarify, this is a review for the graphic novel of Black. A graphic novel is like a really long comic book. Someone is shooting at Thomas Hunter. Then they are chasing him. He runs to his sisters house for safety, but when he falls asleep he wakes up in a strange and foreign land. Every time he falls asleep in one world, he wakes up in the other. Thomas discovers that in order to save earth from a deadly virus, he must ask questions in the other world. And that fantasy world is about to encounter a major problem itself. I love Dekkers Circle Trilogy. Reading this graphic novel after knowing the books so well was a bit difficult. I felt like it moved too fast and left out so many important details. But I read it aloud to my seven-year-old son and he loved it. The illustrations are excellent, and we did have to stop a few times so I could explain something, but even with details left out, this story captivated. I highly recommend this graphic novel for kids who love action-packed adventure stories. Even the ones who dont like to read should get into this. Its a little violent in parts, as Thomas is being shot at and the fighting is illustrated. So, if you arent into that, you might not like this. If you do, youll love it.

My friend was trying to get me into comics...it didn't work. This is a very cheap version of the novel.

The art work is great and the story is intense. If you've never read any of Ted Dekker's work make this an absolutely fantastic first read.
