In Beautiful Outlaw, John Eldredge removes the religious varnish to help readers discover stunning new insights into the personality of Jesus. I gave this book to my husband and each of my three children after reading it myself. After reading Beautiful Outlaw I felt that I had seen the true character and personality of Jesus for the first time. John Eldredge makes Jesus come alive as no one I've read before has been able to do. I can't imagine anyone reading this book and not wanting Jesus to be their best friend. I'm now reading the Bible and looking at the world differently, seeing Jesus more vividly in each and appreciating him so much more. Jesus is more real to me now than ever and someone I want to spend my life getting to know even better.

I used this book in a study in my church. I was introduced to it by my church secretary. The author takes a very human approach to the person of Jesus, working through all the stereotypes and false notions that sometimes religion has provided about Him. It was refreshing and enlightening.

Our small group has not finished reading this book yet, but it does bring forth great conversation, especially if you consider "we are created in His image." Each chapter presents a single idea, draws from multiple sources in the Bible, and from multiple versions. So far we love it!

I just love this book. It has presented so many chances for me to tell others how much He loves us and truly understands us. He wants us o be ourselves- not what others think we should be. god created us to be us! Why would we want to ne anybody else. Jesus wants us to laugh, play, cry, get angry sometimes, and stand strong for what is right, but He mostly wants us to love Him and LOVE OTHERS FOR HIM.

A lot of followers love Jesus, but few know Him intimately and trust Him completely.
John writes from his heart and takes you on a journey to understand the fierce intention of Jesus and His great love of His people and joy for living life fully alive.
If you read this book and it does not renew your mind and cause a heart change, one can only determine you've been hung by religion.

This book definitely draws you closer to Christ. The insights provided gave me some new perspectives.
Overall all a good book that I would buy again. I disagreed with one chapter. He mentioned the need for some folks to forgive God. I don't believe God should be forgiven for anything, even if it's for my own therapy. God is sovereign and allows events because He is God, we are not. While reading the book, you don't want to lose sight of the fact Jesus is to be revered.
