Family Movie Night Secrets of the Mountain, DVD

Can a family survive an ancient mystery? Somewhere between the demands of her career, her ex's wedding and her kids' busy schedules, Dana James (Paige Turco, The Agency) is noticing her tight-knit family starting to unravel. An unexpected offer to purchase her family's mountain property sets up a weekend road trip, which she hopes will bring her family back together. But when they arrive, they quickly learn that the mountain is much more than it seems. An ancient secret and a treacherous quest will test the family like never before. It's an edge-of-the-seat thriller that reminds us that when times are tough, families don't run away from problems - they run back to each other. somewhat predictable for the adults, teaches good messages for the kids: stick together in the family and support each other even when it's tough. action adventure that's not too scary for the younger ones. it does get a little strange as it is trying to get kids to use their imagination to visualize certain things. seems to border on New Age type visualization. parental guidance in that area. found the whole family movie series to be a bit morally grey and relative truth rather than absolute truth as the Bible teaches it. liked 'change of plans', see my review there if you'd like. that was my favorite of the several i saw. Lord bless you as you make choices for your family. : )

This is a great family movie. My daughters aged 3, 6, 15 all enjoy watching this movie over and over again! Especially the 6yr old who is quite sensitive about scary films, this is her favourite!
The acting is well done and the story-line is full of action. I was interested to see that the romantic interest between mother and the lawyer, wasn't the main theme in the relationships of this movie. Instead, the friend went searching for the family with the uncle -rather than persuing the romantic angle, the movie focused on repairing broken family relationships and sticking together, sacrifice, forgiveness and love. The action is like Indiana Jones especially with the sinister enemy lurking in the background.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys a wholesome action-packed movie with great family values that everyone can enjoy without worrying that there might be bad language or sensored scenes.

I am constantly on the lookout for movies that we can watch together as a family and will be interesting for all ages. This movie was just as much fun for Mom and Dad as it was for our youngest, age 5. A great movie for Family Movie Night, pop some popcorn and enjoy.
