Our daughter was staying at the YWAM base in Denver when the shooter showed up there but, we were not the parents that received the call that our daughter had been shot. I cannot remotely imagine what the Works and the other families went through, but I thank them for sharing their story. I am so glad I read this book as it gave me a better perspective on what actully happened when Matthew Murray showed up at the YWAM base and then finished his shooting spree at the New Life Church. I would recommend this book to everyone.

It's too bad this book hasn't caught on more over the years. It draws you in to the life of the Works family, their home life, their search for a church fellowship(ranging from home church to mega-church), homeschooling and the growth of faith in the hearts of God's people, It not only deals with the struggles and victories of a family who loose two of their daughters to a shooting in their church's parking lot, it also deals with the struggles of their church community and the struggles of the parents of the shooter.
It truly challenged me in terms of the level of faith and forgiveness in my own heart. So much so that I had a copy sent to a friend right away.
May God bless you on whatever point you happen to be He has you at this point in your life!

This is a true, heart breaking story told in a God honoring way. It's refreshing to hear about the family's ups and downs, but ultimately how they continually seek to grow in their relationship with the Lord.

This is an everyday family that seeks to follow what they thought was God's plan for their life. But when that changes they still just want to be in God's plan. A story of foregiveness that only knowing God, can one have the strength and faith to do that. Parents love your children always. And tell them that, "I LOVE YOU". It is a heart-breaking real life story. But with God...He will carry you.

I just stumbled over these reviews this evening. I don't know what to say. You all are so kind. It is so good to see how much good God can make out of something so horrible. "Where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more..."

The book was a quick read. Once I picked it upI could' put it downn until I finish. It just goes to show that when you have a true relationship with the Lord , what he can take you through and you find yourself still standing. How they came togather with all the family with for given hearts, and unconditional love. I enjoyed the book, and our book club really enjoyed it, and we all gave it a thumbs up.

The book was well written, as soon as it arrived I started reading it and finish it in one day. As I read the story I could picture and experience the emotion and the presences of God through out the story. The strength of the congregation comming togather as brother and sister should in the time of crisis to help bear the load in which this family was carrying at the time. It helped me remember that God is always on time. Great book ,our book club will be discussing it for the month of July.I had heard about this tragic incident on the news our prayer warriors began to pray. Thanks so much to the family for sharing their story with the world as a reminder that God is always present. This story is an excellent indication that our strength cometh from the Lord who made Heaven and Earth.

I bought this book for our church library. It is such an inspirational story of trusting God, no matter what. The book was very well written...my compliments to Dean Merrill, co-author along with David and Marie Works. I felt like I was there. It made me examine my own life. Could I have remained as faithful and forgiving as they?

I found this book to be very inspirational! Although their story is a tragic one, they show how they were able to use their faith during the crisis and after. I have already used parts of their story to help others who are experiencing difficulties in their lives.
