this book was okay it seemed to drag though, and there are some parts that i did not appreciate, nor did i think them appropriate in a christian book.

I loved reading this book, it was so inspiring. It seems like an allegory for Christian life. I bought the next two Kindle ebooks before finishing the first and will finish the second book in the series today. I spent all night reading instead of sleeping finishing the 406 pages in 2 days even with my comings and goings. I highly recommend this book.

I first read this book several years ago. When I found out I could download the ebook to my nook, I jumped at the chance. Thankfully, this book has stood the test of time. It was well-written, engaging, and thoroughly thought-provoking. It won't be long until I am downloading the second book in the series.

This is a great book. I cannot wait to finish the rest of the series.
In short, what you will find is a intriguing world, where the spiritual realm is more apparent and seen then in ours. Amidst the adventure and mystery you are drawn into a place where you find yourself looking into your own beliefs, and asking "am I walking out in religion or true spiritual relationship". The names are changed, Eidon is God and so on, but Hancock does an amazing job mixing fiction with Truth, and the result is a book you will not be able to put down!

This is the first book of a great series; my family and I have read and re-read it. Unpredictable plot twists, characters with depth, the good guys aren't perfect but sure have interesting struggles. My only real complaint is that the book covers make them look like romance novels; I felt the urge to hide the covers when reading. So in that respect, the e-book is much better!

As with many, my journey into fantacy fiction began with JRR Tolkien. Since, I have tended more to Sci-Fi, but have continued to enjoy fantasy as well. My main objection to both has been the almost universal rejection of a Christian world view as an underpinning to any Sci-Fi/fantacy 'world'. It seems one must accept a Godless universe to develop a plot series. Now, as a 'freebee' ebook, I have read ''Light of Eidon''the first of a series of four, the 'Legends of the Guardian-King' by Karen Hancock.
Being new to ebooks, I was mearly looking for some quick reads, to read & discard + a few classics never took time to read. Much to my surprise, "Light of Eidon" turned out to be a tale well told & the big bonus was a Christian wordview without 'in-your-face' Christianity. I have been impressed enough that as a Father's Day gift to myself, I have purchased the other three volumes & am almost through "The Shadow Within". The Christian concepts are brought in slowly, quite in line with the unfolding plot. I can truley recommend this series & in fact am going to try to use it to introduce a more Christian worldview to several non-Christian friends who enjoy fantasy.

My first love is mystery and suspense but Science Fiction and Fantasy are very close. I loved this book. It started and little slow and I think maybe the author drug it out a bit at times, but it was truly a great read. I bought the 3 remaing books in the series and haven't read them yet. I usually read 3 different books at a time and right now my mother has my nook. She lives with me and it is easy for her to read. Anyway not to give away any of the story line but if you love sci-fi and fantasy especially from a christian author its a must read.
