If you are finished with Algebra and Geometry this is the next step. The instructors work out every problem on the CD videos which is a great help.

Our family has used Teaching Textbooks Pre-Calculus for our college-bound children. We felt this curriculum thoroughly prepared them for college entrance exams. We have used other curricula and have found that for our home school, Teaching Textbooks was the best. We have confidently recommended this to many friends.

My son is strong in math, but unfortunately, math isn't my strongest subject to teach. I needed something he could use independently, and as Teaching Textbooks claims to be that, we gave it a try. I purchased Algebra 2, and that worked well enough, so we followed it up with Pre-Calculus. This product didn't work for us at all. My son made it about a third of the way through, then gave up in frustration. The problem is that it tries to cover too much and doesn't adequately explain anything. So many times he came to me with, "I'm really not sure what they want me to do here." I looked into possibly getting ancillary books to help him along, and discovered there's an awful lot to pre-calc. It's possible the author is simply trying to cover too much ground here and isn't focused enough. Whatever, it was pretty much a waste of money for us.

Our family switched to Teaching Textbooks in the 5th- Algebra II grades, and are super satisfied with those curriculums. The teaching discs are wonderful, and we love that every question has an explanation. But the Pre-Calculus was a disaster for us. We could not figure out how to use the $, mega-button calculator required for the course that came with its own 100 pg. manual. I had hoped Teaching Textbooks would publish a Trigonometry curriculum, as that is what is on the college placement exams, but this was all that was offered. We ended up dropping it all together. What a disappointment! Hopefully, they will develop a curriculum for Trigonometry next! We will buy it! Sadly, this one is not doable. But don't be afraid to buy the other courses before this one! They are great.

I am using this textbook with my daughter who is a junior this year, and I HATE it. We had used primarily Saxon prior to this and had done Saxon Algebra 2 her sophomore year. I like Saxon because it is very thorough but she was getting a little burned out on it. This book gives the student only a superficial understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, it is replete with typographical errors. I also used the Teaching Textbooks Math 5 for my 4th grader this year, and while it did not contain the volume of errors present in the Pre-Calculus text, it was just as superficial in its approach to the subject matter. Neither is a good, solid text.
