The first mixtape released by Beatmart, 'Best of the Submissions' is still a great listen in 2006. The beats are fun, the emcees are well selected, and Morphiziz is an excellent DJ. If you enjoy commercial hip-hop or know someone who's into hip-hop, 'Best of the Submissions' is perfect and a really great companion to the DJ Maj mixtapes.

Finally! A mixtape which actually sounds good! For a while DJ Maj was the only maker of mixtapes that sounded great and were uncompareable. But now DJ Morphiziz has released this mixtape and it might even bee better than DJ Maj's hits. DJ Morphiziz sure knows what he's doing, he's done a very good job with this mixtape and it's the best out there!

When I was listening to this compliation, I immediately thought of the Night Owl series that Syntax Records put out every year. The only difference is DJ Morphiziz is at the helm and the music is more upbeat instead of being underground. My expectations were that I was going to listen to new artists, however, I hear rappers that I listen to all the time; Sev Statik, Mark J, Truth, KJ-52, etc. There was only one guy that stood out; Rob Hodge.I believe in years to come his fan base will grow and that his lyrics will be heard on other compliations in the future. If this mixtape is submission, then sign Hodge (the last name alone would be the perfect marketing strategy) and Japhia Life on a record contract. Don't get me wrong, I like listening to all the other tracks on the compliation; "Champion" performed by KJ has a tight chorus, "How It Is" perfomed by Manchild and DJ Dust (of Mars ILL) featuring Adan Genesis was tight because we all know that Manchild rarely disappoints. My favorite track would have to be "Survive" performed by Hodge. The lyrics were on point and the chorus was excellent. In conclusion, despite the same old rotation of artists we have heard before, this was a nice experience. I can't wait until they come out with the second one.
