New Haven Records The Speers: First Family Of Gospel Music CD
"First Family of Gospel Music" - It's both a figurative and fairly literal title. On the literal side, The Speer Family was formed in 1921 by G.T. "Dad" Speer and his wife, Lena "Mom" Speer. On the figurative side, for much of the next 80 years, The Speer Family was firmly planted at the top of the Gospel Music world. Their travels took them from small churches to performances at the White House. But what people remember most are simply... the songs. This collection brings together 12 of those time-honored songs that have made The Speers a favorite in Gospel Music for so many years.

Our family enjoys the old gospel music and had heard a few of the songs off this CD and loved them. However, upon purchasing and listening to the entire album, we only liked six of the songs. We are glad we have those six songs, even though we don't care for the others!

Wonderful, just what I was looking for. Love the old southern gospel songs and the Speers were one of my favorites. Only disappointed that there were not more songs included but I will be looking for other Speer recordings in the future.

This was one of the greatest CDS I have got. Brings back old time. If you like the old time Gospel Music, by all means get this one. Some of the greatest songs
