Infinity Music Distribution The 6th, CD
The 6th is the title of this FLAME album for two reasons. First, because this is FLAME's 6th album, and secondly because the project explores the 6th day of creation when God created man. The 6th is a study of anthropology (the study of mankind) from a Christian perspective, each element represents a crucial aspect of the personality of humanity. All this over the musical landscape of Hip Hop and Pop.

Flame is one of my favorite Christian rappers and his love for God and the content of the lyrics rate this CD a four on that basis alone. Unfortunately, on this CD, as well as his previous effort on his own label, I'm left thinking it could've been better or deeper. First, the high points; songs like the 6th day, the Great Deception, the funky Show Out, the little classic called Man that clocks in under a minute (Does a great job of highlighting the accomplishments of man while showing it can't rate us a spot in Heaven), and Caught in the Lights (about the deception of fame and fortune) do a great job of illustrating the theme of this CD; Man and his fall. I like the concept, but the CD falls short due to overproduction, short times of some of the songs, and too many singers dominating the tracks. Also, this style of production, while it may appeal to teens, can also be a little grating. the production of rap songs can tend to lead or guide a rapper to have certain inflections in their voices, and sometimes there are times on this CD where the rapping comes across silly or childish, not giving seriousness to the content. Maybe it's because I'm older, but the first track Try Me gave me headache and Scripture Alone seemed to be belittled by the way it was rapped. Add to the fact that the singers seem to take up more time than Flame on a few tracks, I felt as if there was more that could be said, but wasn't. While I always recommend Flame to anyone, and this CD is no exception, it is certainly not the best. I would add this to your Flame collection, but check out his earlier efforts to get a full picture of his talent.

I started listening Flame in 2002 with some reservations about the idea of Christian Rap/Hip-Hop. But very soon i have discovered in Flame a brother in the Lord, who loves God and his Word and who is passionate to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world through rap/hip-hop music. Besides his beats being really good moving along with the culture, his lyrics are move with the truth and and the Spirit of God. He is Biblical, theological and strategic in what he sings. Thanks Flame!

All the songs where just great. The thing that sits Flame apart from a lot of the others rapper is that he has some songs that put you in the mode for worship which is what I'm looking for but this cd has so many short songs that once you begin to meditate on the words to the song its over. 2 and 3 min songs thats why its not a five. "Maranatha"
