Customer Reviews for Casscom Media New American Bible (NAB) on 66 CDs

Casscom Media New American Bible (NAB) on 66 CDs

This NAB translation is the achievement of some fifty biblical scholars. These Catholic scholars have approached more closely than ever before the sense of what the sacred authors actually wrote. From the original and oldest available texts of the sacred books, with a better understanding of Hebrew and Greek and the science of textual criticism, and with the fruits of patient study, these translators and editors have developed this contemporary version that is sure to respond to the need of the church in America today.

This is a word-for-word recording of the complete New American Bible in digital format on 66 CDs in a zippered case with full color images of cathedrals and crosses from around the world printed on each disc. Read by Eric Martin.

I am enjoying listening to this Catholic Audio Bible. The recording is clear and the pace is not hurried.
I am not convinced that the obscure words and names are always pronounced properly, but that is not very important to me.
I would appreciate more distinction between some of the titles and the main text, which are often indistinguishable in terms of intonation.
Other than these minor points, I can find no real faults with the recording. I would recommend it to anybody who wants to listen to the Catholic Bible. It's well worth the money.

The CDs are printed beautifully and the Bible is the complete Catholic cannon. The narration is very clear. Two things i find flawed about this product are the fact 66 CDs are crammed into a case designed to contain 64 CDs (the last 4 New Testament Discs are put into the last 2 slots). I corrected this by putting a dual cloth/plastic CD envelope in the back. The one thing that I disliked most about this product is the fact that the editorial and chapter headings are read, which while I realize they are not part of Holy Scripture, I am afraid others may not. I would have had no trouble with them being there if for example they had been clearly read in a different voice, but the way it is now I can see some more biblically naive, may read into the helps divine inspiration. All in all I am glad that this is available but how I wish the NRSV was available in a Catholic version on CD.
