ApologetiX is back with another clever collection of spoofs and send-ups, turning pop and rock's current and catalog hits into Christian-themed numbers. Recovery includes the group's parodies of 80s hits by bands including Kiss, Queen, REO Speedwagon, Journey, and others.
Musically, some of their best work. I joked with my wife that if impressionist, Rich Little were a Christian rock singer, he'd be J. Jackson. J's abilities to mimic popular singers still amazes me even though I've known J since 1992...he still surprises me. This CD goes heavy on simply relating Bible stories as opposed to "sermon songs." Non-believers may find it more accessible as their not being "preached to" as much as they are being informed on what the Bible teaches. That is by no means to suggest that they are lacking in proclaiming God's message. They do an excellent job of it by simply recounting the scripture's stories. All in all, an enjoyable CD...especially for those of us who were unfamiliar with some of the newer bands they'd been covering on the past few CDs. Nice to hear some classic rock redone with a Bible message. Great job.

Review 2 for Recovery CD
Date:October 15, 2009
Just prior to making this CD, ApologetiX brought on two new band members. This was a positive addition. Never has their work sounded this good. The guitars are great, the drumming is sharp, and there is a clear improvement in their background vocals. If you love late 70's rock, you will love this CD.
