This pamphlet contains the complete Data for the Sigla of the BHS. It is a clearer and larger version of the Sigla which is included with the BHS. "Sigla" is a Latin word meaning "symbols" and refers to the many symbols used in the footnotes to the BHS (Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia), the most up-to-date Hebrew Bible text. This pamphlet gives English explanations for these symbols, helping intermediate and advanced students of Hebrew to follow the text critical notes in the BHS.

Although this pamphlet contains some information on scribal and Masoretic notations, it primarily gives a more detailed description of the manuscript basis for the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. There is a good deal more here about manuscript history and provenance than in BHS. For those interested in the manuscripts and textual criticism, this is a good resource.
